Bronx 10 Mile brings 13,000 runners home
NYRR returns to its Bronx roots with a sold-out 10-mile race, local run clubs, and a free kids run.
In brief
NYRR returns to its Bronx roots with a sold-out 10-mile race, local run clubs, and a free kids run. The Bronx 10 Mile is both a major race and a hometown celebration of where NYRR began. Originally reported by ABC7 New York.
Race day is set
About 13,000 runners will take on the sold-out New Balance Bronx 10 Mile on Saturday, September 19, 2026.
Kids get a start
NYRR will also host hundreds of young runners in the Boogie Down Kids Run, held alongside the adult race.
NYRR comes home
The nonprofit began in 1958 at Macombs Dam Park in the Bronx. The race doubles as a return to the place where it started.
A borough tour
The 10-mile course starts near Yankee Stadium on Grand Concourse, heads north to Mosholu Parkway, then finishes after River Avenue.
Bronx clubs show up
More than a dozen local running groups will be part of the race, including Bronx Burners, Bronx Sole, Run the Neck, and Van Cortlandt Track Club.
Running as belonging
Race leaders framed the event as a way to build confidence, welcome new runners, and connect people across the Bronx.
“Running has the power to inspire confidence and create a sense of belonging.”
A free kids festival
The third annual kids run is free for ages 2 to 18, with a field day-style festival in Joyce Kilmer Park and a run on Grand Concourse.
The bottom line
The Bronx 10 Mile is both a major race and a hometown celebration of where NYRR began.
