Seventy runners stranded by storm

About seventy runners and volunteers in Utah's Moab 240 ultramarathon were stranded overnight by heavy rain on Sunday. The San Juan County Sheriff's Office coordinated with race organizers to evacuate them from the rugged course.

Buses evacuate final group

Destination Trail, which organizes the race, said buses were evacuating the final group of affected participants stuck at an aid station near Bridger Jack Mesa in Bear Ears National Monument on Sunday afternoon.

Destination Trail told stranded participants: "We know this isn't how anyone hoped Moab 240 would go.

Supplies delivered before evacuation

Race officials delivered additional supplies to the aid station ahead of the storm, providing stranded runners and volunteers with heated tents, hot food and plenty of water during the evacuation.
