Tupac Shakur was shot in a drive-by near the Las Vegas Strip on September 7, 1996. He died six days later from his gunshot wounds.

Davis confessed repeatedly

In police interviews, his self-published memoir and on-camera interviews, Davis gave a remarkably consistent account of his alleged role in the killing over the ensuing years.

Prosecutors quoted Davis saying, "I beat the streets, I beat the Feds, and I beat cancer." They argued he was now trying to escape responsibility for a crime everybody knows he committed.

Family demands maximum punishment

Tupac's sister Sekyiwa Shakur told the court: "I do believe that when you take a life like that, you deserve every minute of the maximum amount of punishment."

Jury deliberated less than three hours

A jury of twelve Clark County citizens unanimously found Davis guilty of first-degree murder with the use of a deadly weapon after less than three hours of deliberation in August.

Davis, now 63, has said he plans to appeal his conviction. He was arrested in September 2023 and has been in custody ever since.
