Rubio alleges Ukrainian strikes on U.S. oil

Secretary of State Marco Rubio told Fox News on Tuesday that American-linked oil infrastructure has been targeted by Ukraine in recent weeks during its war with Russia.

Strikes probably not deliberate, Rubio says

Rubio conceded the strikes were probably not deliberate but said American ships and oil supplies have been targeted nonetheless and the issue needs to be addressed.

“American-linked ships, American oil supplies have been targeted, probably not deliberately, but targeted nonetheless by Ukraine.”

Ukraine struck Black Sea port with U.S. ties

Ukraine has conducted strikes on the Russian Black Sea port Novorossiysk, which contains export facilities for the Caspian Pipeline Consortium. Chevron and ExxonMobil are among its top shareholders.

Oil prices rise from multiple conflicts

Rubio attributed the recent rise in oil prices to conflict in the Black Sea between Russia and Ukraine as well as in Yemen with the Houthis.

U.S. backs energy infrastructure ceasefire

Rubio told Fox News the U.S. was enthusiastic about an energy infrastructure ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine, something Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy also called for on Monday.

“We think that would be a great idea, an energy infrastructure of cease fire, in which you're not- Ukraine's infrastructure is not being targeted.”

Trump and Zelenskyy to meet at UN assembly

The remarks came ahead of a meeting set to occur later on Tuesday between President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly.
