Infantino apologises to FIFA council
FIFA president Gianni Infantino addressed the council in Zurich and apologised for making mistakes in his secretive investment plan for the World Cup.
The plan that sparked crisis
Infantino launched a four point two billion dollar World Cup sell-off plan in July with investor Joshua Kushner, who is Donald Trump's son-in-law. The proposal was known as FIFA Forward Enterprise.
No documents, no details provided
Infantino provided no written documents about the World Cup plan or details about the Folarin Balogun red card case where President Donald Trump intervened at the World Cup.
European officials demand answers
German Football Association president Bernd Neuendorf said no satisfactory answers were provided. English Football Association leader Debbie Hewitt said Infantino must answer written questions or he is not fit to be FIFA president.
“The man has to answer those questions. If he doesn't answer those questions, no, he is not fit to be the FIFA president.”
UEFA pushes for removal before March
UEFA is leading attempts to remove Infantino before or at the FIFA presidential election in March. The council is the main decision-making body at FIFA with thirty-seven members.
