Man attacked during e-bike theft
Stephen Hoy, sixty, was hit in the head with an angle grinder while fighting off a thief at a caravan park in Hackney, Adelaide's inner-east, early Friday morning.
Thief used grinder to cut bike lock
Mr Hoy heard machinery at four thirty am and found a man using an angle grinder to cut through the lock on his e-bike attached to his motorhome.
“They had the grinder and they were just grinding through the lock on my bike, it happened in seconds.”
Grinder swung at his head
When Mr Hoy ran outside to confront the offender, the man swung the running angle grinder and struck him in the head. Blood covered him as he fell to the ground.
“He had the grinder going and he swung it and hit me in the head with the grinder while it was going. That was the scary bit.”
Offender fled after second fight
Mr Hoy chased the man to the curb where they fought again. The offender ran away, dropping belongings. Paramedics treated Mr Hoy and he received stitches.
Police search for suspect
Police recovered the e-bike and angle grinder at the scene but have not arrested the offender, described as Caucasian and about one hundred ninety-one centimetres tall.
