The failed World Cup plan

FIFA president Gianni Infantino launched a four point two billion dollar World Cup sell-off plan in July and quickly dropped it after fierce backlash led by Europe.

UEFA's 42 questions

UEFA is demanding answers on Infantino's remuneration, payments to Marc Anthony, Folarin Balogun's disciplinary case, Donald Trump business ties, and FIFA's judicial independence.

UEFA's core complaint

UEFA says Infantino's apology and explanation failed to address fundamental questions about how decisions were taken and why the FIFA Council was not involved at the appropriate stage.

“These explanations have not begun satisfactorily to address a number of fundamental questions raised by Council members.”

The November 2 deadline

UEFA has demanded FIFA respond by November 2, which is 16 days before the nomination deadline for the presidential election on March 18, giving federations time to assess FIFA's answers.

“These questions require answers now. They cannot be deferred until the next meeting of the FIFA Council.”
