Wallaroos thrash Scotland in Sydney
Australia's Wallaroos defeated Scotland 56-12 in a Global XV Series Test in Sydney on Saturday, recording their second straight win over the Scots.
Captain sees room to improve
Wallaroos captain Siokapesi Palu Sekona says the eight-tries-to-two victory did not represent a complete performance and the team has much to clean up.
“We still know there is room for improvement and we definitely know what to do to clean that up.”
Discipline and set-piece need work
Palu Sekona identified discipline, ruck work and set-piece accuracy as areas needing improvement. She said results matter but the team wants to break down their rugby.
“From discipline, to our ruck, to the accuracy of our set-piece. There are things we can continue to work on.”
Aiming for world's best
The Wallaroos, ranked seventh in the world, are semi-professional while England and New Zealand enjoy full-time programs.
“We don't want to only be the better versions of ourselves. We want to be the best in the world.”
Full-time status coming before World Cup
The Wallaroos are shifting to full-time status as part of an integrated program alongside the women's sevens squad ahead of the 2029 Women's Rugby World Cup, which Australia will host.
Scotland rematch in Canberra Friday
The Wallaroos will complete their 2026 Test season when they meet Scotland again in Canberra on Friday night. Tim Walsh leads the makeshift coaching team, with Sione Fukofuka taking over as head coach next year.
