Starlink terminals fail without warning
Ukrainian drone units experienced signal failures at speeds above one hundred sixty kilometres per hour early Wednesday morning, disrupting frontline operations with no advance notice from SpaceX.
Multiple military operations affected
The restrictions disrupted logistics, middle strikes on Russian supply lines, long-range drone operations, and Ukraine's ability to defend against Russian jet-powered drones using Starlink-equipped interceptors.
Ukrainian officials suspect political motive

Defence ministry adviser Serhii Beskrestnov said the restrictions were not coincidental and related to the current political situation, after Elon Musk posted criticism of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
“It is clear that this action is not coincidental and is related to the current political situation”
Trump pressures Ukraine on strikes
Since last week, President Donald Trump has stepped up pressure on Ukraine to stop drone strikes on Russian oil refineries and threatened to cut off vital intelligence sharing over rising diesel prices.
Musk criticises Zelenskyy over refineries
Elon Musk posted on X that Zelenskyy had gone too far after Trump said Ukraine should not hit refineries because it is a world problem. Musk wrote Zelenskyy should stop hitting diesel fuel.

Russia launches massive overnight attack

Russian forces launched thirty nine ballistic missiles and more than one hundred twenty attack drones against energy and critical infrastructure overnight into Wednesday morning, with Ukraine intercepting just four missiles.
Kyiv received no advance warning
President Zelenskyy said Ukraine received no early warning from its partners before Russian ballistic missiles struck the capital's energy infrastructure, detecting them only when virtually on approach to Kyiv.
“Our systems detected these missiles only when they were already virtually on approach to Kyiv”
Widespread damage and casualties
Significant damage occurred at twenty six facilities in Ukraine's power system and four in the oil and gas sector. At least six hundred thousand people lost electricity.
Zelenskyy calls for US response
Zelenskyy called the strike deliberate and demonstrative, saying Russia showed ostentatious disrespect towards the United States. He urged Washington to respond and partners to impose tighter sanctions on Moscow.
“The strike was entirely deliberate and demonstrative in its scale”
