Ex-cop charged with couple's murder

Beaumont Lamarre-Condon, 31, pleaded not guilty to murdering his ex-partner Jesse Baird, 26, a TV presenter, and her new partner Luke Davies, 29, a Qantas flight attendant, in Sydney in February 2024.

Obsessive infatuation escalates

Prosecutors say Lamarre-Condon developed a jealous obsession with Baird after a brief relationship, escalating into stalking, tampering with his car, and impersonating him online after Baird ended contact in November 2023.

Premeditated attack planned

On the day of the alleged murders, Lamarre-Condon set his alarm for 4:30 AM, used a burner phone, rented a car, dressed as an Uber driver, and waited outside Baird's home for three hours before entering with a previously obtained key.

“I'll try to call you tonight and update you... there's no sign I'm doing it”

Shooting in the home

Lamarre-Condon allegedly shot Baird in the kitchen, then killed Davies in the bedroom as Davies tried to call emergency services. Prosecutors say Davies was killed to eliminate him as a witness.

Bodies hidden 200km away

The couple's bodies were found in a rural area 200 kilometers away, hidden inside surfboard bags. Lamarre-Condon allegedly purchased the bag beforehand and sent messages from Baird's phone to cover up the crime.

Trial expected to last three months

A 15-member jury was selected with three alternates as contingency. Lamarre-Condon was fired from New South Wales Police after being charged and had previously rejected a plea deal for manslaughter.
