Woman says rape claim was false

A woman who accused Jay-Z and Sean Combs of raping her at age thirteen has filed a court statement saying her allegations were untrue and she never met Jay-Z.

“Shawn 'Jay-Z' Carter never raped me. I have never met or spoken to Mr. Carter.”

Original lawsuit filed in 2024

The unnamed woman, known as Jane Doe in court documents, filed a lawsuit in October 2024 claiming she was drugged and raped by Jay-Z and Combs at a party after the MTV Video Music Awards in 2000.

Jay-Z denied allegations and sued

Jay-Z, real name Shawn Carter, denied the allegation and described it as a blackmail attempt. He sued the woman and her lawyers after she dropped the case in February 2025.

Woman says lawyers filed without investigation

Jane Doe said she saw a Facebook advert in September or October 2024 about sexual assault claims against Combs. She was contacted by a law firm but the lawsuit was filed without her authorisation or any independent investigation.

Lawyer Tony Buzbee disputes her account

Tony Buzbee, who led the legal team, said he had not seen Jane Doe's new declaration. He said multiple lawyers dealt with her before he did and she gave the same story to each of them.

“We have multiple lawyers (at least four) who dealt with Ms Doe long before she met me.”

Woman denies harassment or payment

Jane Doe said she never received any threat from Jay-Z or anyone acting on his behalf, and had not received any money from the rapper or anyone acting on his behalf to make her new declaration.

“I never received any threat from Mr Carter or anyone acting on his behalf.”

Woman removed from Jay-Z's lawsuit

Jane Doe has been removed from Carter's lawsuit. Buzbee continues to represent numerous other people who have made allegations against Sean Combs, who is currently serving a four-year prison sentence after conviction in July 2025.
