Trump's arch becomes military command post

Trump's planned triumphal arch in DC will now house drones, snipers, and ammunition storage for national security.

In brief

Trump's planned triumphal arch in DC will now house drones, snipers, and ammunition storage for national security. Trump is repurposing his 250-foot monument design to serve as a military complex, claiming it will be unique globally. Originally reported by BBC News.

Trump unveils military arch plan

Trump announced his 250-foot triumphal arch will now function as a military complex with drone and sniper capabilities. He said the update came at the military's strong request for national security purposes.

“There will be no facility like this anywhere in the World”

What the complex will store

The facility will house large numbers of drones and snipers positioned on the roof and plaza areas, plus store significant quantities of sniper ammunition. Trump called it a 'top grade' military complex.

Monument design stays intact

The 250-foot arch features a golden, winged Lady Liberty on top, flanked by two gold eagles, with 'One Nation Under God' and 'Liberty and Justice for All' inscribed in gold. It will dwarf the nearby 99-foot Lincoln Memorial.

Location near Arlington Cemetery

The arch is planned for a site across the Potomac River from Washington DC, just outside Arlington National Cemetery. Construction was expected to begin this month.

Trump's DC renovation spree

The arch is one of several major projects Trump has pursued during his second term, including a gilded Oval Office makeover, a 400 million dollar White House ballroom, and renovations to the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool.

Approval status remains unclear

Trump did not provide details on construction timing or whether the military complex designation requires further approval. The Department of Defence declined to comment on the plans.
