Yandex hit by drone strikes

Russian tech giant Yandex says two of its five data centres were struck by Ukrainian drones in the past two days, forcing it to struggle maintaining services.
What Yandex does
Yandex runs Russia's most popular search engine and operates food-ordering and taxi apps used by tens of millions of people across the country.
Damage to two centres
The Sasovo data centre in Ryazan region was seriously damaged with operations completely suspended. Another centre in Kaluga, south-west of Moscow, was also attacked on Friday morning.
Zelensky says it's retaliation

President Volodymyr Zelensky said the attacks were in response to weeks of Russian strikes on Ukrainian data centres, describing Kyiv's response as mirror-like fashion.
Ukraine's strategic aim
Kyiv says its strikes are aimed at revenue streams for Moscow's war machine. Ukraine's defence ministry said the attacks could force Russia to divert resources to repair damaged capacity.
Yandex warns of uncertainty
Yandex said its data centres were critical for normal operation and it was very difficult to predict when they would be back online, though teams worked day and night.
