Charli XCX: why the tour is short
Six UK and European dates drew fan complaints, so Charli XCX explained what touring actually costs her.
In brief
Six UK and European dates drew fan complaints, so Charli XCX explained what touring actually costs her. An artist can be at a career peak and still set limits on how much touring they will do. Originally reported by Billboard.
Six dates, lots of anger

Charli XCX announced a 2027 UK and European run of just six arena shows: Dublin, Glasgow, Manchester, London, Amsterdam and Paris. Fans filled the comments with disappointment.
She answered directly
Instead of ignoring it, she posted an Instagram statement addressing the frustration and apologising to anyone who felt let down by the short run.
“I know there's a lot of frustration in the comments about the fact that I am not doing lots of dates”
Touring costs her
Her reason was simple and personal: long tours take a real toll on her, and she would rather say that out loud than pretend otherwise.
“touring is really emotionally and physically hard for me”
Not asking for sympathy
She praised artists who can sustain long, high-energy runs, then made clear she has never been one of them and is not looking for pity.
“I am just not one of those human beings and I never have been”
Maybe not forever
She left the door open, saying she might one day handle the kind of touring fans expect, and promised to try to stay in a healthy mindset for these shows.
“Perhaps one day I will be built for the kind of touring you expect from me, but right now I am not”
A peak year anyway
Music, Fashion, Film hit No. 1 in the UK, her fourth chart-topper, and No. 3 on the Billboard 200. The 12-date North American leg opened Sept. 11 in Philadelphia and ends Oct. 23 in Las Vegas.
The one thing
An artist can be at a career peak and still set limits on how much touring they will do.
