Ella Langley Ties the Hot 100's All-Time Record
"Choosin' Texas" just matched Mariah Carey's 22 weeks at No. 1, and it did it without a holiday season.
In brief
"Choosin' Texas" just matched Mariah Carey's 22 weeks at No. 1, and it did it without a holiday season. A country song crossed over hard enough to match the most dominant chart run in Hot 100 history, one that took Mariah Carey seven Christmases to build. Originally reported by Billboard.
Twenty-two weeks on top
Ella Langley's "Choosin' Texas" holds No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for a 22nd week, tying the longest run in the chart's history since it began in August 1958.
Tied with Mariah
The song it matched is "All I Want for Christmas Is You," which has ruled every Yuletide since 2019 and could pull ahead again this December.
“tying the longest run ever achieved atop the chart”
The non-holiday record fell first
Two weeks ago its 20th week passed Shaboozey's "A Bar Song (Tipsy)" and Lil Nas X's "Old Town Road," both stuck at 19, to lead all non-holiday songs outright.
From country radio to pop
It debuted Nov. 1, 2025, hit No. 1 in February, topped Country Airplay for three weeks, and now sits top 10 on Pop Airplay, Adult Pop Airplay and Adult Contemporary.
The numbers behind the week
Sept. 4-10 it drew 24 million streams, 56.9 million radio impressions and 6,000 sold. Streams and airplay slipped 2%, sales fell 16%, and it still held the top spot.
Forty weeks atop country
It's also No. 1 on Hot Country Songs for a 40th week, only the third song ever to get there, behind "Meant to Be" at 50 weeks and "A Bar Song (Tipsy)" at 45.
The one thing
A country song crossed over hard enough to match the most dominant chart run in Hot 100 history, one that took Mariah Carey seven Christmases to build.
