Jelly Roll Says He'd Walk Away From Music
Three Grammys in, Jelly Roll says he's ready to quit the business if he feels called to something else.
In brief
Three Grammys in, Jelly Roll says he's ready to quit the business if he feels called to something else. Jelly Roll has checked off every goal he set in music, and he's now asking whether the next chapter belongs somewhere else entirely. Originally reported by Billboard.
Every box already checked

Three Grammys, a No. 1 album on the Billboard 200, 22 songs on the Hot 100, and a Grand Ole Opry induction. He says the list he started with is finished.
“Everything that Jason or Jelly Roll wanted to do in the music business, I've done now”
The homeless shelter line

Asked about his future, he floated a specific exit: a shelter in Paducah, Kentucky, and no second act in music.
“If God tells me to go work at a homeless shelter in Paducah, Ky., I'm outta here … y'all will never see me again”
A brutal year behind it
He swept three Grammys in February, then he and Bunnie Xo announced their divorce after nearly ten years. The first six dates of his Post Malone tour were postponed.
Stepping off the road
He plans to take real time off, calling his Opry appearance that night a fluke rather than a return to the schedule.
“This is deeper than the road. Me being at the Opry tonight is a fluke.”
Sober, in therapy, in the Bible
He describes himself as completely sober and clear-headed, doing the work on himself before deciding anything.
“I'm completely sober, though. I'm clear-headed, and I'm deep in therapy, I'm deep in my Bible”
Noise is the obstacle
His reason for pulling back is that the business drowns out the answer he's listening for.
“I gotta separate from the chaos of the business for me to really hear what God wants for me to do next”
The essence
Jelly Roll has checked off every goal he set in music, and he's now asking whether the next chapter belongs somewhere else entirely.
