Swift crashes the Emmys with a sketch

Taylor Swift made a surprise appearance at the Emmy Awards on September 14 in a Law & Order: SVU sketch hosted by Mariska Hargitay, who plays Captain Olivia Benson on the long-running NBC show.

Her cat has a famous namesake

Swift's cat Olivia Benson is named after the beloved character played by Hargitay for 27 seasons. The feline made an appearance in the sketch alongside her famous owner.

Kelli Giddish requested the cat

SVU star Kelli Giddish, who plays Detective Amanda Rollins, told Women in Entertainment that she specifically asked if Swift could bring her cat to the sketch. Swift obliged and brought Olivia Benson along.

“Can she be holding her cat? That's my only request.”

Security was intense for the taping

Giddish compared Swift's arrival to a presidential visit, noting that security was extremely tight during the filming. Despite the lockdown, Swift remained sweet and down to earth on set.

“It was like the president of the United States was visiting!”

Swift brought homemade cookies

Swift brought sourdough brown butter chocolate chip cookies for the cast, impressing Giddish who described herself as a cookie snob. The gesture showed her thoughtful and generous nature.

“She brought me some really, really, really good cookies, and I'm kind of a cookie snob.”
