From med tech to mermaids

A family business born from a mother's health crisis becomes a Shark Tank success.

In brief

A family business born from a mother's health crisis becomes a Shark Tank success. Sydney Myers founded Glimmer Wish, a clean beauty brand for kids, with her family's support. After appearing on Shark Tank, the company secured two hundred thousand dollars from Lori Greiner and Kendra Scott for a twenty percent stake…

A mother's health crisis

Tiffany Myers was diagnosed with Lyme disease after seven years of unexplained illness. She overhauled her family's diet and household products, insisting on clean, safe alternatives for her daughters.

“I was incredibly sick. I remember driving and feeling so short of breath that I was worried I would crash the car with my babies in the back.”

Sydney's idea at ten

Sydney Myers wanted beauty products that were both safe and fun. At age ten, she came up with the idea for Glimmer Wish, a whimsical beauty line that met her mother's stringent safety standards.

“She hated that the options I offered smelled like tea tree oil or lavender. Those weren't fun for her at all.”

Byron Myers, an experienced entrepreneur who founded a med tech company, agreed to help Sydney build Glimmer Wish if she created a business plan. He later left his company to work full-time on the beauty brand.

“I'm going to go from med tech to mermaids?”

Building the brand together

Sydney designed the bottles as a unicorn and a mermaid. Tiffany found manufacturers and worked with Sydney on safe, nontoxic ingredients. The family moved to a rural area in two thousand twenty and enrolled Sydney in Laurel Springs School, which is fully online.

Shark Tank deal closes

The Myers family appeared on Shark Tank last summer. They signed a deal with Lori Greiner and Kendra Scott, who paid two hundred thousand dollars for a twenty percent stake in Glimmer Wish, plus a royalty until that amount is repaid.

Family success and legacy

Byron is now CEO, Tiffany is chief creative officer, and Sydney holds the title of founder. Tiffany says the journey has been sacred ground, treasuring moments working together as a family while giving kids products that don't compromise their health.

“Glimmer Wish is already a success in my eyes because we're giving kids products they love, and that don't compromise their health.”
