Pichai delegates to AI agents

On the Sources podcast, Google CEO Sundar Pichai said he uses AI agents to summarize what has happened at the company in the last twenty-four hours, freeing him from spending an hour daily catching up.

“It could easily take me an hour a day to kind of catch up, what's happened in the last 24 hours, right?”

Agents track development and resources

Pichai's AI agents help him understand Google's model development arc, track how computing resources are being used by product area, and follow internal chat group discussions without reading every conversation himself.

Humans still make key decisions

Pichai said humans, including himself, remain directly involved in consequential decisions about allocating computing resources. Managing agents is becoming a skill in its own right, with workers checking bot output and preventing duplication.

Agents work around the clock

Because agents run in the cloud twenty-four seven with context from previous work, they can pick up where Pichai left off, allowing him to move on to the next problem while they continue working continuously.

“So because your agents, they're running in the cloud, they're running 24/7, they have your context, and so they can pick up things where you left off.”
