Trump halts PERM for major tech employers
Vice President JD Vance announced Thursday that the Trump administration suspended Microsoft, Adobe, and six Indian tech companies from the Permanent Labor Certification program.
Vance accuses Microsoft of replacing workers with foreign staff
At a press conference, Vance said Microsoft laid off workers then replaced each one with one and a half foreign indentured servants, claiming companies abused the system.
“If you do the math, for every worker that Microsoft laid off, they replaced that worker with one and a half foreign indentured servants.”
Microsoft disputes the accusations in statement
Microsoft said eighty percent of its approximately six thousand H-1B visa applications in the last fiscal year extended or changed status of existing employees, not new hires.
“Of the approximately 6,000 H-1B visa applications we submitted in the last fiscal year, 80% percent were to extend or change the status of existing Microsoft employees.”
