Walmart bundles two memberships
Walmart announced Tuesday it is offering Walmart Plus and Sam's Club Plus together for one hundred twenty dollars per year, targeting Amazon and Costco.
CEO compares prices to rivals
CEO John Furner said people may pay one hundred thirty nine dollars for Amazon's retail membership with delivery and one hundred thirty dollars for Costco's warehouse club.
“Consider what people may be paying today: $139 for a retail membership with delivery. $130 for a warehouse club.”
Fast delivery is the main draw
The biggest perk for Plus members is rapid delivery that fulfills orders from stores and clubs in as little as thirty minutes, with some arriving in fewer than ten minutes.
Walmart's membership scale
Mizuho estimates Walmart has about twenty five million Walmart Plus members and thirty million Sam's Club members, with roughly ten percent overlap between the two groups.
