Sixteen year old kills four at Oregon school

Griffin J.John II, a sixteen year old former student, shot and killed three children and one twenty five year old teacher at Silver Rail Elementary School in Bend, Oregon on Thursday.

Shooter used mother's shotgun

The attacker used a Maverick eighty eight pump action twelve gauge shotgun purchased by his mother. He fired as many as fifteen rounds, and fifty nine rounds of ammunition total were located at the scene.

Victims were in special needs classroom

The shooting occurred in a special needs classroom.The suspect had been a special needs student at Silver Rail Elementary.The children killed were ages five, eight and eleven.The teacher killed was Megan Lambert, twenty five.

Bystander stopped the attack

A thirty six year old man whose children attend the school witnessed the shooting and drove into the parking lot.

Teacher fought suspect during attack

A teacher engaged the suspect in physical altercation, throwing her cellphone at him and tackling him to fight for the firearm.

“almost certainly helped prevent more bloodshed”

Two others seriously wounded

A seven year old girl was being treated at Oregon Health and Science University in Portland in serious but stable condition.

Investigators probe online activity

Law enforcement sources told CBS News that investigators are combing through the computer, phone, social media and search history of the attacker.
