Anthropic is negotiating a second multibillion-dollar deal with UK neocloud Nscale to lease computing capacity at a West Virginia data center site, a source told CNBC.
The deal could be worth around $45 billion
The agreement would cover a second four hundred sixty megawatt data center at the same West Virginia site as their first deal, according to a person familiar with the matter.
Neocloud rivals face heavy debt pressure
Nvidia-backed Nscale is one of several AI infrastructure companies facing headwinds. Rivals CoreWeave and Nebius have seen their shares drop twenty eight percent and twenty seven percent respectively in the past month.
Anthropic racing to expand computing capacity
Anthropic said earlier this year that growing demand for its Claude AI models has caused inevitable strain on its infrastructure. It has since announced deals with Advanced Micro Devices, SpaceX, Google and Broadcom.
