Maxx Crosby has beef with Cam Newton
The Raiders pass rusher says Cam Newton talked about him online, then slid into his DMs like nothing happened.
In brief
The Raiders pass rusher says Cam Newton talked about him online, then slid into his DMs like nothing happened. Crosby isn't mad about the criticism itself, he's mad that Newton was warm to his face and cold online. Originally reported by California Post.
Crosby names his beef
Asked on the podcast "Deflected" which NFL figure he has an issue with, Crosby answered instantly: Cam Newton. He sat alongside Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders.
“I got [a] beef with my guy, Cam Newton. Right now, we got to talk. He pissed me off.”
Liking him made it worse
Crosby says the sting came from respect, not insult. He likes Newton, which is exactly why the comments landed the way they did.
“And I like Cam. That's why it pissed me off.”
Love in person, shots online
Crosby's real complaint is the gap between the two Newtons. All warmth face to face, then critical talk online, then a casual DM a couple of weeks later.
“Hey bro, what's up?”
He left the DM unread
Crosby never wrote back. He wants the conversation in person, not over text, and says he won't pretend things are fine until then.
“I can't even fake be cool with you right now.”
Flashpoint one: the Cowboys
In October 2025, with Dallas reportedly interested, Newton questioned on "First Take" whether Crosby's loyalty to Las Vegas was blocking his stated goal of winning.
“So now, he's not going to win in Vegas.”
Flashpoint two: the failed trade
Baltimore backed out of a two-first-round-pick deal after Crosby's physical. Crosby called himself livid; Newton said that is simply the average NFL player's reality.
“Every single trade still depends on passing a physical, right?”
The bottom line
Crosby isn't mad about the criticism itself, he's mad that Newton was warm to his face and cold online.
