Basketball recruiting keeps moving

Football owns the headlines this month, but the 2028 hoops board is where Clemson is making news.
Brownell makes the call

Clemson and head coach Brad Brownell offered 2028 guard/forward Kaleb Allen of Christ Church Episcopal in South Carolina.
“Blessed to receive an off from Clemson University.”
A consensus top-50 kid
Rivals has Allen at No. 41 overall, No. 10 at shooting guard and No. 3 in South Carolina. 247Sports lists him at small forward, No. 46 nationally and No. 1 in the state.
Six-six and hard to guard
At 6-foot-6, Allen is a tweener the services cannot agree on. He grew up in the upstate and started high school at T.L. Hanna in Anderson.
The sophomore season
He averaged 14.7 points, 7.5 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.5 steals while leading T.L. Hanna to 21-5. A playoff bye ended in a 62-59 second-round upset by Fort Mill.
From zero offers to five
Allen finished that season with no offers at all. Playing 16U for Carolina Premier on the Under Armour circuit, he landed South Carolina, Furman, UTEP, Virginia Tech and Charleston in June and July.
Only two visits so far
He has seen Virginia Tech over the summer and High Point last month, where the staff offered on the spot. The process is barely started.
A three-way race
The Rivals Prediction Machine has Clemson, South Carolina and Virginia Tech all scrapping for front-runner status.
Clemson is working the class
Allen also transferred to Christ Church Episcopal, a 2026 3A state champ. Meanwhile four-star Tennessee forward Davis Cochran just officially visited Clemson, with Vanderbilt and Tennessee in his top eight.
The takeaway
One strong AAU summer flipped Allen from unranked and unwanted to a top-50 recruit with three high-major programs chasing him.
