Submit your photos here

First Thing subscribers can now send their own pictures for the Picture of the Day section. A submission link appears in the newsletter once you are subscribed.

Format and resolution matter

Daily Maverick asks photographers to orient cameras horizontally in landscape format and send the highest resolution possible. These guidelines help ensure the best quality publication.

Weekly limit of twenty photos

The newsletter limits weekly entries to a maximum of twenty. If your picture is not published, keep sending them in for future weeks.

All subjects welcome

First Thing's John Stupart is very much a dog person, but the publication encourages all pictures. Photographers of any subject matter are invited to submit.

“we encourage all pictures.”

Professional photographers included

Amateur and professional photographers are welcome. While Daily Maverick does not pay for pictures, photographers can provide portfolio links or print options when submitting.

Rights and attribution

Submitting a photo means you give Daily Maverick permission to publish it on the site and in this format. You retain all rights to your work. Contact Daily Maverick to reuse or print subscriber photos.
