Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said the United States has resumed providing critical intelligence to help Ukraine defend against Russian missile strikes after a brief pause.
“We are very thankful for this. Now it works.”
Zelenskiy warns of US tilt toward Russia
Zelenskiy told NBC that US actions including signing a deal to import Russian diesel and waiving sanctions on Russia will hurt Ukraine and suggested the US is taking Russia's side.
“If the United States will officially take the side of Russia, of course if these two countries will be together, of course we will not prevail.”
Bessent: Ukraine gets support Russia does not
US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent told NBC that Ukraine receives help Russia does not, citing intelligence-sharing and provision of US munitions for resale to Ukraine.
Bessent calls for negotiated settlement
Bessent said the war must end through negotiated settlement rather than Ukrainian victory, rejecting what he called Zelenskiy's false binary that Ukraine must win.
“The war must end, and that will be with some kind of a negotiated settlement.”
The takeaway
Ukraine's president says the US has resumed intelligence-sharing to help defend against Russian missiles, but expressed concern that other American actions including sanctions waivers favour Russia.
