Houthis target Mecca with drone
The Iran-backed militant group fired a drone at Islam's holiest city, drawing widespread condemnation. Houthi spokesman Yahya Saree denied targeting sacred sites, saying operations focus on oil facilities and military bases.
“'Our operations target its oil facilities and military bases, which are far removed from the sacred sites'”
Saudi coalition condemns attack
Major General Turki al-Maliki called the attempted strike a deliberate act to provoke Muslims worldwide. He vowed to take necessary and deterrent measures against the group.
“'This hostile attempt will also remain a black mark in the record of violations by the extremist terrorist Houthi militia'”
Houthis claim fighter jet kill
The group said it shot down a Saudi F-15 fighter jet using a locally made air-to-air missile while it operated in Marib province. Saree accused Saudi Arabia of launching 450 strikes.
“'The Yemeni Armed Forces, with Allah's aid and grace, succeeded in shooting down a Saudi F15 fighter jet'”
Saudi pipeline attacked and shut
The East-West Pipeline, which moves two point six to four million barrels daily from the Gulf to the Red Sea, was forced offline after drone attacks. Repairs could take three to five weeks.
Oil supply crisis fears mount
The pipeline closure threatens to remove millions of barrels from global markets. Brent crude rose one point seventeen percent to one hundred six dollars and ninety-two cents per barrel on Tuesday.
US diesel prices hit six dollars
Average US diesel prices surpassed six dollars per gallon for the first time last week. The spike reflects compounded pressure from Houthi attacks and Ukrainian strikes on Russian refineries.
UK inflation hits five-month high
Inflation rose to three point one percent from two point nine percent, driven by increases in petrol, diesel, and airfares from war disruptions. The Office for National Statistics reported the jump.
Houthis seize Red Sea islands
The group captured the strategic islands of Greater and Lesser Hanish, lying one hundred sixty kilometers north of the Bab el-Mandeb Strait. The move puts them just twenty miles from a US military base in Djibouti.
Strait controls Saudi exports
The Bab el-Mandeb Strait connects the Red Sea to the open ocean and is Saudi Arabia's key route to Asian markets. Houthi control of nearby islands threatens this critical shipping corridor.
Houthis seize port city Mokha
Last week, the rebels seized the port city of Mokha and the island of Mayun inside the Bab el-Mandeb Strait. Government forces withdrew from the archipelago as Houthi pressure mounted.
Airbase attacked with missiles
A rebel spokesman said the Houthis fired dozens of missiles and drones at King Khalid Airbase in Khamis Mushait, targeting hangars, radar installations, and ammunition depots.
Civilian casualties reported
General al-Maliki said attacks struck civilian areas in Khamis Mushait and nearby cities, injuring thirteen civilians and damaging several houses and vehicles.
Saudi oil output plummets
Saudi production dropped to six million barrels per day in August from nearly ten million in September the previous year, according to the International Energy Agency.
Iran war displaces nearly 94,000
The fighting has forced nearly ninety-four thousand people in Yemen to flee their homes with minimal supplies. Many lack enough food or water, with whole villages reportedly emptied.
“'Many of them don't have enough food or water as they had to flee with whatever they could carry'”
Schools converted to shelters
Around two hundred schools in southwestern Yemen have been converted to shelters to absorb an influx of displaced families fleeing the conflict.
Houthis boost Iran leverage
For more than a month, the Houthis have been striking Saudi oil infrastructure and shipping in the Red Sea, stepping up pressure on global oil prices and boosting Iran's leverage in its war with the US.
Daily air raid warnings in Saudi
Houthi threats have kept the Kingdom on high alert, with air raid warnings sounding across the country daily. A series of ballistic missile and drone attacks wounded thirteen civilians on Monday.
Government forces fight back

Iran war strains Persian Gulf
Saudi Arabia has shifted oil exports away from the Persian Gulf after Iranian attacks stifled shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, the gulf's sole exit. The East-West Pipeline became critical for exports.
