Jamie Carragher criticizes Florian Wirtz
Jamie Carragher says Florian Wirtz offered 'absolutely nothing' in Liverpool's 3-0 defeat to Manchester City.
“I'm going to go back to Florian Wirtz, because I was critical of him after the last game Liverpool played at Bournemouth”
Wirtz's performance record
Wirtz has played 56 games for Liverpool with seven goals and 11 assists in his career.
“Wirtz has in fact played 56 times for the Reds, picking up seven goals and 11 assists in that time”
Wirtz's current form
Wirtz has scored zero goals and one assist in six top-flight matches this season.
“he has continued to struggle this term too, and under a new manager, with the german yet to score and picking up just one assist in the six top-flight matches so far this season”
Carragher's criticism
Carragher says Wirtz should be dropped after 50-60 games, not after five or ten.
“we're saying this after 50-60 games. we're not saying this after five-ten games”
Wirtz's role in Liverpool
Wirtz was moved from attacking role to deeper position after Liverpool won Premier League.
“he joined a team last summer that had just won the premier league with dominik szoboszlai as their no10, but have now moved the hungarian into a deeper role”
Carragher's key point
Carr: Wirtz never looks like scoring a goal and offers no goal threat.
“there's absolutely no goal threat whatsoever”
Wirtz's comparison
Carragher says Wirtz has played 60 games vs. Barcola's four or five.
“if we were looking at barcola, he has played four or five”
Wirtz's impact
Wirtz has not been a key contributor in Liverpool's recent matches.
“he has played 55 60 games for liverpool. if we were looking at barcola, he has played four or five”
Carragher's recommendation
Carragher urges Liverpool to drop Wirtz immediately.
“he shouldn't be in the liverpool team right now”
Wirtz's future
Wirtz may not be ready for Liverpool's next match.
“there's absolutely nothing today where you thought he put someone through or nearly scored”
Man City's win
Manchester City won 3-0 against Liverpool in their latest match.
“man city's first game since guilty verdict”
Klopp's role
Jurgen Klopp was Liverpool's manager before Wirtz's move.
“it could be the last hope if jurgen klopp could get his arm around him when he was with germany”
Wirtz's potential
Wirtz was expected to be a key player for Liverpool.
“he played really well for germany under jurgen klopp”
Carragher's stance
Carragher says Wirtz's performance is not enough for Liverpool's needs.
“what florian wirtz is doing for liverpool is not enough right now”
Wirtz's position
Wirtz is a midfielder for Liverpool.
“florian wirtz should be dropped from the liverpool team”
Liverpool's situation
Liverpool has struggled with Wirtz's performance in recent matches.
“he's played 55 60 games for liverpool. if we were looking at barcola, he has played four or five”
