Ford recalls 223,000 F-150s

Fuel tank straps may not be properly secured, causing tanks to detach while driving. The recall covers 2023-2027 models built between January 2023 and August 2026.
Assembly cameras weren't running
T-slots on front fuel tank straps may not have been properly inserted into the frame rail during assembly. This happened when verification cameras weren't continuously operating.
Fire and stalling risks
A detached fuel tank could leak, increasing fire risk or causing the engine to stall. It could also create a road hazard for other drivers.
No crashes reported yet
Ford estimates only 1% of recalled trucks have the defect. The company has received 16 warranty claims but no reports of crashes or injuries.
Free dealer inspections starting
Owners will receive recall notices by mail between September 21 and 28. Dealers will inspect and replace straps if needed at no cost.
Check if your truck is affected
Vehicle identification numbers became searchable September 14. Call Ford at 1-866-436-7332 or contact a dealer to check your specific truck.
