Four arrested in Boyd High hazing

Four Boyd High School students were arrested after an alleged hazing incident involving a 14-year-old football player in the school's locker room on September 3.

Two charged as adults with assault

Chason Lee-Earl Tucker and Noah Davis Stevens, both 17, are being charged as adults with injury to a child and unlawful restraint. Two other students face juvenile charges.

Victim dragged to locker room

The 14-year-old told police he was physically carried from the weight room into the locker room and dragged toward a dark shower area while resisting. He slipped on the wet floor and injured his hand and wrist.

Alleged assault in shower area

Police say the students removed the victim's shirt and shorts and attempted to remove his underwear. One 17-year-old allegedly pulled down his own clothing and sat on the victim's chest while he was being restrained.

“No one should have to go to their locker room or to their shower and expect to be assaulted.”

Coach heard commotion, told them to settle down

A coach entered the locker room after hearing noise and told the students to settle down. Security cameras captured the beginning of the incident in the weight room, but not the assault itself due to privacy policies in the locker room.

Victim reported to coaches, then principal

The victim told most of the football coaching staff what happened. One coach allegedly said it should be handled in the locker room, but two other coaches reported it to the principal that night. The victim's parents contacted the principal the next morning.

School launches Title IX investigation

Boyd ISD is conducting a Title IX investigation into the incident. Federal regulations require the district to complete the investigation before assigning discipline, with results expected soon.

Defense attorney says context matters

Stevens' attorney argued the situation could have been handled by coaching staff and said similar locker room behavior has occurred for years at the school. The attorney characterized Stevens as a good kid who experienced similar incidents when he started playing football.

“This kind of behavior has been going on for years at this high school.”

Victim suffered bruising and pain

The 14-year-old reported bruising and pain in his previously injured hand and wrist. Boyd police said the victim felt helpless during the assault.
