Cody Walker won't help AI resurrect Brian
Paul Walker's brother says AI could bring Brian O'Conner back for the Fast finale, but he wants no part in it.
In brief
Paul Walker's brother says AI could bring Brian O'Conner back for the Fast finale, but he wants no part in it. Cody Walker thinks the technology exists to bring Brian back, but the call belongs to Paul's daughter Meadow, not to him. Originally reported by Decider.
AI could do it now
Cody Walker says the tools have caught up since 2013, and there is unused Paul Walker footage sitting in the vaults from earlier Fast films.
“AI was not a thing back in 2014, so they could do that.”
He still says no
Cody stood in for his brother once already. He has no interest in doing it again, and says the filmmakers would not need him or Caleb this time.
“I would not be interested in doing that again.”
Meadow gets the call
Cody hands the decision to Paul's daughter. If she wants to see Brian back on screen, that settles it for him.
“My stance is, it's what Meadow wants to see done; it's her father.”
The ending he loves
Furious 7 let Brian drive off instead of dying. Cody calls that exit beautiful, a character quietly off raising his kids.
“They didn't kill him off, they didn't do something cheesy like that.”
They felt different in 2018
Caleb once hoped for a small cameo he could help create. Cody allowed it might be possible, but only handled with real care.
“But it would take a lot of thought and it'd have to be tasteful.”
Vin Diesel wants Brian
Diesel agreed to make the finale on three conditions: back to L.A., back to street racing, and Dom reunited with Brian O'Conner.
“The third thing was reuniting Dom and Brian O'Conner.”
Nobody knows yet
Cody says he has no more information than anyone else. Fast Forever hits theaters March 17, 2028, and Brian's return is still an open question.
“I have no idea what to expect there.”
