Pluribus Season 2 is written, mostly

Six Emmys, a nuclear cliffhanger, and a Vince Gilligan update that pushes the return further out than fans hoped.

In brief

Six Emmys, a nuclear cliffhanger, and a Vince Gilligan update that pushes the return further out than fans hoped. Season 2 exists on paper but not on film yet: only two scripts are done, so a 2027 premiere looks optimistic and 2028 is likely. Originally reported by Decider.

Six Emmys, zero patience

Six Emmys, zero patience

Pluribus swept six Emmy awards, including first-ever wins for Vince Gilligan and Rhea Seehorn. The trophies only sharpened the question everyone keeps asking about Season 2.

Nine episodes, one bomb

Rhea Seehorn on 'Pluribus'

Season 1 ran nine episodes and ended with cliffhangers, unanswered questions, and a literal atomic bomb. That finale aired nearly nine months ago and nothing has resolved since.

Renewed before it aired

Apple TV picked up Season 2 before a single Season 1 episode premiered. The bet paid off: Pluribus is now the most-watched drama in Apple TV history.

“It's official, Carol.”

The plot is cracked

Gilligan says the writers room has broken the full season, meaning every episode's plot is mapped. Two scripts are finished and the rest are in progress.

“Season 2 is not technically all written. We've broken it out, which is the hard part.”

Seehorn hasn't read a page

The show's lead has seen zero Season 2 scripts. Gilligan plans to share soon, though some castmates prefer staying in the dark until the pages land.

“Sometimes the actors like Karolina and Samba, sometimes they don't necessarily want to know.”

2027 slips toward 2028

Production starts in fall 2026, and Karolina Wydra said filming begins very, very soon. But with most scripts unfinished, a late 2027 premiere now looks more like 2028.

Where to rewatch now

Season 1 streams on Apple TV, which runs $14.99 a month with a seven-day free trial for new subscribers. A bundle with Peacock starts at the same price.

The big picture

Season 2 exists on paper but not on film yet: only two scripts are done, so a 2027 premiere looks optimistic and 2028 is likely.
