Ricoh GR IV gets anniversary treatment
The Ricoh GR IV 30th Anniversary Edition is now available for pre-order in the US and UK, celebrating three decades of the iconic GR series that started with the GR1 film camera in 1996.
Pricing and availability details
US pre-orders start at $1,799.95 from B&H, while UK customers can order from Wex Photo Video for £1,499. Only 6,000 units are being produced worldwide.
Special design touches honor the original
The camera features dark silver shutter and rear buttons inspired by the original GR1, plus a special GN-3 ring cap with diamond-cut finish and a dedicated 30th anniversary power-off screen.
Exclusive accessories in the kit
The kit includes a commemorative metal hot shoe cover, genuine leather finger strap, and a set of 16 GR-series pin badges celebrating the camera line's history.
Same excellent camera underneath
The 30th Anniversary Edition uses the same 25.74MP APS-C sensor and redesigned 18.3mm f/2.8 lens as the standard GR IV, delivering the classic 28mm full-frame equivalent field of view.
Built for pocketable everyday shooting
The GR IV combines hybrid autofocus, 5-axis sensor-shift stabilization, and ISO100-204800 range in a genuinely pocketable body perfect for street and documentary photography.
A collector's edition, not an upgrade
This anniversary version isn't about better image quality than the standard GR IV. It's a collector's piece celebrating three decades of one of photography's most distinctive compact camera families.
Premium pricing for limited appeal
At $1,799.95 in the US and £1,499 in the UK, the anniversary edition carries a significant premium. But with only 6,000 units worldwide, GR fans may find the exclusive details and accessories worth the extra cost.
The big picture
The Ricoh GR IV 30th Anniversary Edition is mechanically identical to the standard model but offers exclusive design details and accessories that make it a collector's piece for GR fans willing to pay the premium.
