Bold Lens Co. makes mirrorless lenses
Bold Lens Co. is a Thailand-based company building mirrorless lenses from old disposable cameras.
Unique adjustable aperture
The BL-32 lens uses an adjustable aperture from f/5.6 to f/22 instead of a fixed opening.
How the lens is made
Bold Lens takes used Fujifilm QuickSnap cameras, pulls the optic, and 3d-prints the lens housing with six curved aperture blades.
Hand-assembled lens
The final lens is assembled by hand with four components: 3d-printed body, recycled lens element, aperture blades, and camera mount.
Soft film-like look
The narrow f/5.6 aperture encourages higher ISO, creating grain that feels like old-school film.
Available mounts and pricing
The lens sells for $49 and comes in mounts for Fujifilm X, Sony E, Nikon Z, Canon EF-M, Canon RF, and Micro Four Thirds.
