In brief
A retro Micro Four Thirds camera at $999 has drawn enough pre-orders to push Japanese deliveries into November. If you want the new PEN at launch, pre-order now, because Japan's backorder queue shows how fast this one is moving. Originally reported by Digital Camera World.
Five years, then a backlog

The PEN is back after a half-decade gap, and Japanese buyers who waited that long now have to wait more. Pre-orders outran supply almost immediately.
November or later

OM Digital Solutions says some Japanese pre-orders slip past the late October ship date. Black and silver bodies are both affected, along with the 14-42mm III kit lens and BLS-y battery.
“may be delayed until November or later”
Other regions still on track

Orders outside Japan are unaffected for now. Europe ships in late September, the US in late October, though the same demand could show up anywhere.
X100VI size, X100VI scarcity

It lands in the same compact class as Fujifilm's perpetually out-of-stock X100VI, which is a big part of why it is moving so fast.
$999 buys a lot

Weather sealing, in-body stabilization and an electronic viewfinder at $999 / £849 / AU$1,499. That combination almost never appears at this price.
Specs above its price

Native 20.4MP with 50MP and 80MP high-res modes, 30fps pre-capture, and software ND filters for slow shutter effects without carrying glass.
“the best bang-for-buck body on the market”
