Four new Air lenses arrive

Viltrox L-mount Air lenses

Viltrox released four L-mount Air series primes: 14mm f/4.0, 20mm f/2.8, 40mm f/2.5, and 50mm f/2.0. All are compact, lightweight, and built with metal mounting plates.

Viltrox joins L-mount alliance

Viltrox became a full member of the L-mount alliance in September 2025. These Air lenses are remakes of existing Nikon Z and Sony E mount versions adapted for L-mount.

Tiny but fully featured

Each lens measures just over two inches long and weighs around 6 ounces. They include stepping motor autofocus, aspherical and ED optical elements, lens hoods, and USB-C ports for firmware updates.

Built for video and stills

All four lenses are optimized for both video and stills, making them ideal for hybrid photographers. The 14mm's ultra-wide angle suits vlogging, while the 40mm bridges wide and standard perspectives for street and environmental work.

The 50mm leads in speed

The 50mm lens has the fastest aperture at f/2.0, helping isolate subjects with shallow depth of field and perform better in low light. The 40mm offers a natural perspective ideal for environmental portraiture.

Bargain pricing across the board

The 14mm and 50mm cost $199 each, the 20mm is $168, and the 40mm is $176. All prices are significantly lower than comparable full-frame primes from other manufacturers.

Full-frame only makes sense

Full-frame only makes sense

All four lenses are full-frame compatible. Viltrox skipped APS-C versions, reasoning there's little point making crop-sensor L-mount lenses given the alliance's focus on full-frame cameras.

The headline

Viltrox's new Air series L-mount lenses deliver professional features in compact, affordable packages ideal for hybrid photographers and vloggers.
