Apple names its smart home hub
According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, Apple's long-awaited smart home hub will be called HomeView and will debut at the company's Welcome home event on Tuesday.
HomeView is a Siri-controlled display
The name HomeView conveys that the device is a display primarily controlled through Siri and voice commands, not a tablet-like experience that HomePad would suggest.
Two versions, limited app access

HomeView comes in a countertop version with metal speaker base in space gray, silver, starlight and pink, plus a wall-mounted model in space gray and silver only. It won't have App Store access.
HomeView ships in mid-November
HomeView will start shipping in mid-November, weeks after the HomePod mini refresh and new Apple TV arrive on October 30. Third-party products from LG will ship later this year.
The big picture
Apple's smart home hub, called HomeView, will ship in November as a Siri-controlled display that pairs with HomePod mini and other Apple devices to manage a connected home.
