Claude can now create editable documents in chat

Anthropic merges chat, Cowork and Design into one unified interface for its AI assistant.

In brief

Anthropic merges chat, Cowork and Design into one unified interface for its AI assistant. Claude now creates documents, slides and presentations directly in chat without switching between separate modes. Originally reported by Engadget.

Claude creates docs in chat

Claude creates docs in chat

Anthropic launched Claude Docs, letting the AI create documents right inside your conversation. You can ask for a one-page sheet and it appears in your chat, ready to edit or export.

Export to Word or Google Docs

Documents start private but can be shared with colleagues. You can edit them within Claude or export them to Google Docs or Microsoft Word.

Slides and presentations too

You can now create presentations directly in chat without going to Claude Design. Ask for slides and they drop into your conversation, ready to edit or download as PowerPoint or PDF.

Cowork and Artifacts merge

Anthropic is combining Cowork and Artifacts into one interface. Cowork uses AI agents for multi-step tasks, while Artifacts are saved content pieces you can access later.

One Claude fixes confusion

People got confused about where to do tasks since Design and Cowork were separate and didn't share context. The unified interface lets Claude figure out what each task needs automatically.

“Claude can now figure out what a task needs, so what Cowork and Design can do is available from any conversation, with the context, skills, and connectors you already have”

Rolling out to subscribers

The updates are coming to Pro and Max subscribers over the next few weeks on web, desktop and mobile. Team and Free plan users will get them soon after.
