Gemini is taking over Android Auto

In brief
Google's assistant swap turns your dashboard into something you can actually talk to on a long drive. Gemini is rolling out to Android Auto now, and it handles messages, music and route questions conversationally, so you never touch your phone. Originally reported by Engadget.
Long drives overload you

Traffic, bad roads, incoming texts, finding something to listen to, navigating unfamiliar turns. Android Auto exists to take some of that off your hands.
“there are so many things testing your patience”
Gemini replaces the assistant

Google is rolling Gemini out to Android Auto users everywhere, retiring the old assistant. If you want it now: Settings > Connected devices > Android Auto > Manage your digital assistant.
It remembers the thread
No memorized phrases. Ask about food along your route, pick a spot, then ask about parking or reviews without repeating the name you already forgot.
“you can talk to it the way you'd talk to a person”
Group chat, summarized
Instead of reading a dozen notifications aloud, Gemini condenses the pile. It drafts replies, adds your ETA, and translates into more than 40 languages.
“You won't have to touch your phone once.”
A DJ that takes vibes
Skip song and playlist names. Ask for something upbeat, or something mellow that feels like a music video, and it pulls from your usual music service.
“play something upbeat”
Your inbox comes along

Connected to Gmail, Calendar and notes, Gemini can dig out the arrival instructions buried in an email or read back your day. It will also just talk with you.
