Record audio without extra apps
Apple's Voice Memos app comes built into iOS on all modern iPhones. Just open the app, tap the red button to start, and tap again to stop and save.
Rewind and re-record sections
Swipe up while recording to reveal hidden controls. You can pause, rewind, and re-record just a few seconds if you misspeak or catch background noise.
Choose your recording mode
Go to Settings, then Apps, then Voice Memos to pick Mono, Stereo, or Spatial recording. Spatial creates 3D audio that sounds like it's coming from all around you.
Get instant transcripts
Tap the speech bubble button to see a full transcript that updates in real time. Tap any word to jump back to that moment in the audio.
Trim and enhance your audio
Use the Trim button to cut unwanted sections. Toggle Skip Silence to remove pauses, or use Enhance Recording to reduce background noise and echo.
Organize and sync across devices
Voice memos sync automatically to iCloud if you enable it in Settings. Search transcripts to find recordings, create folders, and share memos to other apps.
