Microsoft refreshes smaller Surface devices

Microsoft released updated versions of its Surface Pro 12 and Surface Laptop 13, its smallest PCs, with new Snapdragon X2 Plus chips replacing slower Qualcomm processors from the previous year.

Prices rise despite portability focus

The Surface Pro 12-inch now costs one thousand one hundred fifty dollars and the Surface Laptop 13 costs one thousand one hundred ninety-nine dollars, up from below one thousand dollars last year due to increased RAM costs.

Displays get 25 percent brighter

Both devices feature new five hundred-nit displays, which are twenty-five percent brighter than the previous generation, while design remains unchanged from last year's models.

Snapdragon X2 Plus delivers major gains

Microsoft claims the Snapdragon X2 Plus chips deliver sixty percent better graphics, ninety-five percent faster on-device AI, eighteen percent better battery efficiency, and eighteen percent faster Office productivity work.

“60 percent better graphics than the last generation, as well as 95 percent faster on-device AI and 18 percent better battery efficiency.”

New Surface Ink Canvas and haptic mouse

The Surface Pro 12-inch launches with Microsoft Ink Canvas, an AI-powered pen-first app for sketching and annotating. Microsoft also released an eighty-dollar Surface Mouse with haptic feedback for Windows eleven interactions.

All new hardware available October 13

Microsoft's refreshed Surface Pro 12, Surface Laptop 13, Microsoft Ink Canvas app, and new Surface Mouse all launch on October thirteenth, with the Ink Canvas also coming to other Surface devices via the Microsoft Store.
