One number, two iPhones
iOS 27's new iPhone Handoff feature lets you use the same phone number across two iPhones without separate carrier accounts. Just unlock the phone you want to use and you're ready to go.
What handoff actually does
Make and take calls and messages on both phones using one number, add payment cards that work on both devices, and sync most apps and iCloud seamlessly.
Important limitations to know

Your carrier must support Handoff, it won't switch your Apple Watch between devices, and some wallet items like IDs and passes won't work on both phones.
How to set it up
Both iPhones need iOS 27 or later, the same Wi-Fi network, and the same Apple Account. One phone is primary and holds the main eSIM, but you can use both phones' eSIMs if both carriers support it.
Only two carriers support it
T-Mobile in the US and Telekom in Germany have confirmed support so far. T-Mobile charges an additional five dollars per month for the feature.
Who should actually use this

Handoff is useful when migrating to a new iPhone, carrying a cheaper device while traveling, or managing separate work and personal phones without juggling two numbers.
The big picture
iPhone Handoff eliminates the need for separate carrier accounts when using two iPhones, though only T-Mobile and Telekom support it so far.
