Oura adds cardio effort tracking
Oura announced a new Cardio Effort feature that measures how much strain the wearer puts on their body during activity. The metric offers five ranges: light, fair, maintaining, building and reaching.
VO2 Max now automatic
Oura's smart rings will automatically estimate VO2 Max stats during regular GPS-enabled workouts. Previously called Cardio Capacity, the feature required a six-minute walking test to enable.
Oura catches up to rivals

The new features make Oura competitive with Apple Watch and Fitbit, which have tracked similar cardio metrics for some time. The ring form factor may appeal to people who prefer rings to watches or bracelets.
