A spill in Duncanville

Crews are cleaning up a sanitary sewer overflow in Duncanville, in Dallas County. Officials said it happened Wednesday in the city's wastewater collection system.
Construction debris started it

Debris from utility construction upstream got into the main line and blocked it. That is what pushed sewage out of the system.
Where it went

The overflow spilled into a backyard area and a drainage easement along Little Creek Drive.
Boil your well water

Anyone with a private water well within half a mile of the spill should boil water before drinking it while cleanup and disinfection continue.
No dead fish reported
Officials said there have been no reports of dead fish or significant environmental harm so far.
What the city says next
Duncanville says it follows TCEQ rules, and for spills over 100,000 gallons crews take lab samples along the drainage easement once the overflow fully stops.
“our crews actively work to mitigate any impact and take laboratory samples at various points along the drainage easement”
The main idea
If you have a private well within half a mile of Little Creek Drive, boil your water before drinking it.
