Deadly I-635 crash in Mesquite ends in a DWI arrest

A 3 a.m. call on IH-635
Mesquite police were called to the 21100 block of northbound Interstate 635, near North Gross Road, at 3:17 a.m. on Sept. 9.
A sedan hit a trailer
A white Alfa Romeo sedan crashed into the trailer of an 18-wheeler that was moving slowly on the highway.
The driver died there
Jose Aguilar Renteria, 36, of Dallas, was driving the sedan. He died at the scene.
Truck driver arrested
Ulises Mendez Hernandez, 30, of Mexico, was driving the semi. Officers arrested him at the scene and charged him with driving while intoxicated.
The case is still open
The Mesquite Police Department Traffic Unit is still working the crash, so the account of what happened could change.
