In brief
A second-grade teacher charged with abusing his students is free on bond, and the fallout has reached his principal and the district. One 8-year-old telling her parents set off a chain of charges, a firing, and a lawsuit against Plano ISD. Originally reported by FOX 4 News Dallas-Fort Worth.
He posted bond

Paul Campbell, 64, walked out of the Collin County Jail on Friday, September 11. His lawyer confirmed the release to FOX 4, and he is no longer listed as an inmate.
The bond amount is unknown

Bond was set at $2.5 million when he was arrested on July 8. A judge refused to lower it on July 31, with victims' parents in the room. What he actually paid has not been disclosed.
An 8-year-old spoke first

Over the Fourth of July weekend, a second grader told her parents that Campbell touched her between her legs when she went to his desk to ask a question. She said it happened all year.
Then others came forward

Two more students told investigators similar stories. A fourth, from his class two years earlier, said he touched her while she sat on his lap. More students have come forward without new charges.
“Because of the courage of the first victim, two other victims came forward”
Four charges and counting

Campbell faces one count of continuous sexual abuse of a child plus three counts of indecency with a child, filed after police obtained three new warrants.
The principal was fired

Plano ISD voted unanimously on August 13 to terminate Brinker Elementary principal Jennifer King. A victim's family is suing the district, King, and Campbell, alleging warnings went unreported.
