Caught trying car doors

On Sept. 3, security guards at the Crescent Hotel on Camp Bowie Boulevard spotted a man in the parking garage pulling on car handles to see which ones were unlocked.

Asked to leave

The guards approached him and told him to go. He started walking toward the garage exit, and it looked like the encounter was over.

“They approached him and asked him to leave.”

Then he opened fire

Before reaching the exit, the man pulled a handgun and fired several shots at the two guards. One was hit in the arm.

Gunman ran east

He fled on foot eastbound from the parking garage in the Cultural District, and police spent days searching for him.

Public tips cracked it

Fort Worth police said help from the public let them identify and arrest a juvenile suspect, who now faces a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

“Thanks to help from the public, the Fort Worth Police Department said it was able to identify and arrest a juvenile suspect.”

No name, no mugshot
