Jury selection never happened

Jury selection in Yella Beezy's capital murder trial was set for Monday. Judge Chika Anyiam granted a defense continuance instead, pushing everything back at least a month or two.
Why the defense asked

Several defense expert witnesses could not testify in the next two weeks. Lawyers also want the transcript from Kewon White's trial before Markies Conway, Yella Beezy's real name, stands trial.
Prosecutors did not fight it
The state agreed with the motion for delay. No new trial date has been set, leaving the case in limbo on the court calendar.
“Prosecutors agreed with the motion.”
The transcript clock

The court reporter needs about 30 days to produce White's trial transcript, and the defense asked for two more weeks to read it. Both sides also need federal witnesses lined up.
The hitman is already convicted

Kewon White was found guilty of capital murder earlier this month for the murder-for-hire killing. Prosecutors say Conway paid him to do it over a long-running feud.
MO3 died on I-35

Melvin Noble, known as MO3, was ambushed and killed on Interstate 35 in Dallas in 2020. Conway has pleaded not guilty and denies involvement. A third defendant, Devin Brown, also faces capital murder.
