Walmart launches combined membership

Walmart Inc. is offering customers a combined membership to Walmart Plus and Sam's Club Plus for one hundred twenty dollars annually.

Previous cost was nearly double

The two memberships previously cost two hundred eighteen dollars a year separately: ninety eight dollars for Walmart Plus and one hundred twenty for Sam's Club Plus.

CEO frames it as value

Walmart president and CEO John Furner said the bundle gives people more money in their pockets and more time to call their own.

“For $120 a year, we're raising expectations for what a membership can deliver: more money in their pockets and more time to call their own.”

Bundle includes cash back

Members get member-only deals, two percent Sam's cash on eligible purchases, and free delivery from both Walmart and Sam's Club.

Streaming and fuel discounts included

The membership also includes ten cents off per gallon at over seventeen thousand participating stations and a membership to Peacock or Paramount Plus.

Existing members get refunds

Walmart is offering most members who already pay for both memberships a prorated refund for Walmart Plus.

Individual memberships still available

Customers can still purchase individual Walmart Plus memberships if they prefer not to bundle with Sam's Club Plus.

Strategy mirrors cable TV bundling

The move follows the cable television model of combining services into one package, positioning Walmart to compete with Amazon Prime's all-in-one membership approach.

Walmart is offering a combined Walmart Plus and Sam's Club Plus membership for one hundred twenty dollars annually, down from two hundred eighteen dollars for both separately.
